This Privacy Policy explains what information Ukki collects when you use our used-car marketplace, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. By using Ukki you agree to the practices described here.
01Who we are
Ukki operates an online consumer-to-consumer (C2C) marketplace that helps people buy and sell used cars safely in India — including identity verification (KYC), inspection, Ukki-protected payments, financing, paperwork and the RC transfer. In this policy, “Ukki”, “we” and “us” refer to the company that operates the Ukki platform; “you” refers to any buyer, seller or visitor.
For the purposes of India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), Ukki acts as a Data Fiduciary in respect of the personal data you provide.
02Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
Account & contact details
- Name, mobile number and email address
- Profile information you choose to add
Identity & KYC data
- Government identifiers used for verification (Aadhaar, PAN)
- A liveliness / face check used to confirm it is really you
- Verification status and the result returned by our KYC partners
Vehicle & transaction data
- Registration number and the vehicle details we fetch against it
- Your asking price, offers, negotiations and deal history
- Inspection reports, loan/NOC details and paperwork status
- Payment records (we do not store full card or bank credentials — bank transfers are made directly from your bank)
Technical & usage data
- Device, browser and approximate location
- Pages viewed, features used and diagnostic logs
- Cookies and similar technologies
03How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Create and secure your account and verify your identity
- Fetch vehicle details and build listings or private deal links
- Facilitate deals — inspection, secure payment, financing, paperwork and the RC transfer
- Hold and release deal payments at the correct milestones
- Detect, prevent and investigate fraud and abuse
- Provide support and send transactional updates about your deals
- Comply with legal, tax and regulatory obligations
- Improve and measure the performance of the platform
We rely on your consent, the performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interests in running a safe marketplace, and our legal obligations as the lawful bases for processing.
04KYC & identity verification
KYC is mandatory before any deal goes live — there are no anonymous transactions on Ukki. Identity checks are performed through regulated verification partners. We store the verification result and a masked reference (for example, the last few digits of an identifier), not your full credentials, except where retention is required by law.
05When we share information
We share the minimum information needed, with:
- The other party to a deal — limited details required to complete the transaction (for example, verification status, the agreed price and delivery coordination), never your raw KYC documents
- Service partners — certified inspectors, logistics providers and paperwork/RTO agents who carry out a part of your deal
- Lenders & financing partners — only where a buyer chooses to finance a purchase
- Banks and payment processors — to receive funds and settle payouts
- Authorities and regulators — where required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of users
We do not sell your personal data.
06Cookies & analytics
We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and protect the platform, and analytics cookies to understand how Ukki is used so we can improve it. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling necessary cookies may break parts of the service.
07Data retention
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above — typically for the life of your account and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet legal, tax, accounting and dispute-resolution requirements. Transaction and KYC records may be retained for longer where the law requires it.
08Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls, and least-privilege practices to protect your data, and we restrict who at Ukki and among our partners can access it. No system is perfectly secure, but we work continuously to safeguard your information and will notify you and the authorities of a reportable breach as required.
09Your rights
Subject to the DPDP Act and other applicable law, you may:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Ask us to correct or update inaccurate data
- Request erasure of data we no longer need to keep
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
- Nominate another person to exercise your rights in the event of incapacity or death
To exercise any of these rights, contact our Grievance Officer at privacy@ukki.in. We will respond within the timelines required by law.
10Children
Ukki is intended only for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a minor has used Ukki, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
11Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the “last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of Ukki after an update means you accept the revised policy.
